New Walk 〰️
Some of the highlights of the Far Eastern Fells, very much on home turf for Team Tortoise.
A majestic circuit from Mardale Head taking in four fine Wainwrights. We will start with a climb up to Blea Water - the deepest tarn in the Lake District which is a massive 61m deep - plans are underway to make this a more natural place with the removal of the small dam, a legacy of the reservoir construction below. We will make our way up onto High Street via Long Stile, which in places has some short sections where you might want a hand on the rock as extra support, but I will be there to guide and support you though this.
Once up we will visit our four summits with relative ease as we take advantage of the high ridge of High Street. our final summit, Kidsty Pike holds an airy position above Riggingdale, famous in the past for Englands Last Golden Eagle, and now how to many, many red deer.
Level 2 walk.
11.6km, 820m of height gain.
