Wansfell - Season Finale. Fells, Food and Feedback

More of a review of the year than a walk.

A short walk - 9km ish , taking in (if the weather plays ball ), Wansfell and Wansfell Pike - a bit of a steep one but not for long! Bagging a Wainwright, stretching the legs and lungs, and blasting away the winter blues. If the weather doesn’t want to give us a nice day out, we will explore Stockghyll Force waterfalls instead!

Before we return to Ambleside, we will detour to Grove Barn Cafe for lunch, which can only be reached on foot, a real walkers delight. Here I will be asking you for your feedback and ideas to help shape the direction of Team Tortoise for next year. As part of a relaxed chat, I would like to know what you have loved during 2026, and what has been not so great, what you want to achieve in 2027 and how I can help.

I would like Team Tortoise to keep doing what it’s doing - day walks in the Lake District, weekends and weeks of hiking. I would like to add in some camping trips, wider exploring in the UK and ultimately abroad. Before I press go on these things I would like to hear from you.

Special conditions for this day: -

To join this walk, you need to have already done a walk with Team Tortoise.

This day is £30 to join.

I will buy your lunch (please let me know if you have any dietry requirments I need to let the cafe know in advance).

There are 12 places on this walk (breaking my usual rule of 6 but I want as many as want to to be able to join this).

No alcohol will be consumed in the cafe!

If you can’t make the day but you want to send feedback - please drop me a message!
