This classic route has become a must do for many walkers who enjoy the Lake District , however dont be put off by the length of the trail , a not insignificant 32km . Here at Team Tortoise we don’t like to rush, so we plan to take 2 days to complete the circuit giving a huge sense of achievement.
The varied terrain has something for everyone and views in all directions. with some ups and downs to gain great vantage points and vistas. Passing through the Lake District villages of Glenridding, Patterdale and Pooley Bridge and taking in the delights of Aira Force, the terrace around Hallin Fell and the ancient stone circle , the Cockpit on Askham Fell .
Logistics wise, we will utilise the bus service to assist us so that we can return to vehicles at the end of day 1 which will give more options for accommodation or if feasible to head home to your own bed if you wish. Leaving vehicles at one end of the lake and then hoping on the bus to start our walk at the other. The final decision on which end will be made when the winter bus timetable is ready!
