An Adventure from Longsleddale
Level 2, some walking experience needed
In a quite corner of Lakeland, winds the unsurprisingly lengthy valley of Longsleddale (the inspiration for Greendale of Postman Pat fame!). At the end of the road we start our walk from the beautiful hamlet of Sadgill. From a beautful glacial valley we climb up between little rock butresses on good paths to reach the gentler ground above where we can pick off summits and history all in one outing. We pass survey pillars which are a legacy of the construction of the Haweswater aqueduct and take time to explore the upland plant species which are abundant in this area. Our homeward journey follows the course of the River Sprint as it cascades over tumbling waterfalls.
